Manisha Yadav was born and brought up in Bhopal, the state capital of Madhya Pradesh. She completed her graduation from there and then joined the Anupam Kher's Actors Prepares academy in Mumbai. After completing this course, she rushed for the glamour world and got her first break in TV serials in Imtihan, which was made for Doordarshan. She has also worked in Shapath in Life Ok and CID in the Sony channel.

In this serial, she is playing the role of Salima Begum, one of the emperor's wives, apart from the more popular Jodha Begum played by Paridhi Sharma and Rukaiya Begum played by Lavina Tandon. This wife of Akbar was also considered to be one of the wisest women.

When she was offered this role, she did a lot of research work and utilized her education to bring authenticity to the character portrayed by her. Manisha Yadav has also done item songs in the Hindi movie 'Makad Jaal' and Marathi film' Fultoo Dhamal.'
