Akhil Vaid was born and brought up at New Delhi. He attended ‘Kalka Public School, Alaknanda’ for his schooling and ‘University of Delhi’ for his graduation. He has two brothers. He has also done a professional course in acting at Delhi.

He started his career with modeling and had done around 25 print photo-shoots so far. Akhil had also been part of theater for some time. He then, appeared for some of the episodes of a reality show, telecasted on a Bhojpuri Channel, ‘Anjan TV’. He had also appeared in an episode of an Indian teleserial ‘’ which has been running since 2009 on Zee TV. During 2012, he had performed a short character in one of the episodes of ‘Kya Hua Tera Vaada’, a serial which was broadcasted on Sony TV from Jan 2012 to May 2013. Akhil donned the role of a friend of the protagonist in that TV serial. He became a doctor in a TV serial named as ‘’ for two episodes which were aired on 18 and 21 Jan 2013 on Colors TV. During Jan 2013, Akhil appeared in one of the episode of a melodrama named as ‘Bade Achhe Lagte Hain’, which originally has run from May 2011 to July 2014 on Sony TV.

Since Jun 2013, Akhil has been busy playing an important role of ‘Rajkumar Raj Singh’, who is the brother of ‘Jodhabai’, in a historical drama, ‘’, which is running on Zee TV and Geo Kahani. He has also been performing the role of ‘Atul’ in a quite popular TV drama, ‘Sasural Simar Ka’, which has been running since April 2011 on Colors TV.

Akhil gave the audition for the movie, ‘Aashiqui 2’ but got his debut role in Bollywood with a small appearance in the movie 'Hate Story’ which was released during April 2012. He then, played one of the main leads in a movie, titled as, ‘Love Knows No Boundaries’. He has also performed a character role in another movie, titled, ‘Freedom’, which is directed by noted director, ‘’ and is yet to be released.
