Smita Bansal is the famous face of Indian Television. She has worked both on small screen and big screen. She was born on 21st Feb, 1977 in Jaipur. She got her education from India International School, Jaipur. She is married to Ankush Mohla (director) on 8th Dec, 2000. She got famous with the name Sumitra in Balika Vadhu (2008-2014). This soap is aired on Colors. The story portrays the illegal child marriages going on in villages. Smita was playing the role of Jagdish’s mother. This show was also dubbed in Tamil as Mann Vasanai and was aired on Raj TV. Smita has won ITA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role and Indian Telly Awards for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her role in this serial. After working for six long years, she quitted this show because she was exhausted from this show. The show is still going with lots of success.


She has also worked in the soap Sanjivani as Neha on Star Plus. In the serial, she had an affair with Dr Shashank. They both have a son named Karan. She has also worked in CID on Sony TV as Sub Inspector Aditi. She has also participated in Nach Baliye with her spouse on Star Plus and Fear Factor Khatron Ke Khiladi with Saurabh Roy as her partner on Colors.


Considering her role in Amanat, she was the third eldest daughter of Lala Lahori Ram as Dr. Bala. The show was based on the life of an Indian man with his 7 beautiful & dutiful daughters. This daily soap was telecasted on Zee TV.

Mamta Luthra is an Indian television actress who hails from Delhi but presently lives in Mumbai and regularly performs in supporting roles in various TV serials.


She was first noticed in the serial 'Rishton Se Badi Pratha' which was aired on Colors channel during 2010 in the role of the grandmother of the male protagonist. The serial was produced by Pearl Grey and directed by Jatin Ravasla. It was a serial based on the background of western Uttar Pradesh where honour killing is observed regularly and rampantly. The story is about two young lovers who fall in love with each other and in turn earn the wrath of their respective families who want to kill both the lovers for the honour of their families. The role of Dadi played by Mamta who on the one hand loves her grandson very much and on the other hand cannot agree with his marriage to his girl. She acclaimed high regards for her great acting in the serial. Unfortunately the serial could not pick up much due to violence and beating and ended abruptly in may 2011 after running for nearly six months.


She was again seen in 2011 Sony TV serial 'Bade Achchhe Lagte Hain' of Balaji Telefilms which is one of the most popular TV serial of present times and ended very recently in July 2014. Mamta again was in the role of a grandmother-Nani and her role was highly appreciated by viewers. She also appeared in the role of Mausi in the popular Zee TV serial 'Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke' where she performed the character of an old lady highly opposed to modern views and typically orthodox and dominating matriarch who won't tolerate anything against her wishes.

Roshni Achreja is an Indian female actress. She was born on 1st January 1970.She had acted in the Hindi television drama series Banegi Apni Baat which aired in ZeeTv from 1993 to 1997.It also starred Irrfan Khan, R. Madhavan and Achint Kaur. Harsh Chhaya is an Indian television and Bollywood film actor who has starred in several Indian television series and movies. 

Harsh Chhaya's debut on television was a small role in a Zee TV series Tara. However, Harsh claim to fame was to portray the character of a wealthy but sleazy boss, who sexually exploits his employee in television series Hasratein. Such powerful was his performance that it created a stereotypical image of Harsh as a corrupt boss. As a result, harsh also portrayed the character of an immoral boss in his Bollywood flick in Laaga Chunari Mein Daag.

Dinesh Kaushik is a Punjabi actor, born on May 27, 1957 in Bhatinda, Punjab in India. A theatre graduate of Punjab University in Chandigarh, the actor has worked with the professional theatre artists in Mumbai. He also donned several advertisements, TV shows and films. He started his career by playing the role of Narsinghrao Pradhanmantri (Jhansi’s Prime Minister) in the historical drama series, Jhansi Ki Rani on Zee TV channel in 2009. Prior to this, he also acted in the television series, Raghukul Reet Sada Chali Aayi, along with Rajesh Khanna and Jaya Bhattacharya in 2008. 


Dinesh started his career in doing theatre acts and became an active member of Majma Theatre Groups and Ekjute Theatre Groups. He also became a regular face in the television commercials, especially for the leading brands in the 80’s like Cadbury, Tree Top, Keo-Karpin, Thumbs Up, Hero Honda Motor Bikes, Girnar Tea, Surf, Vicks and Mayur Suitings. 19. Salim Shah

Salim Shah was born on September 17, 1964 in Aligarh. He got his education from Aligarh Muslim University where he made stage performances and was secretary of the AMU Drama Club. Mr. Salim Shah had acting skills in his veins. Being the cousin of Bollywood actor Naseeruddin Shah, he saw a speck of light in the Indian television industry.


Salim Shah’s first movie was “English, August” in 1994 in which he played the role of Ravi Srivastava, a bureaucrat. The lead character, August fights the bureaucratic society. This movie bagged several awards.  Lahore, released in 2010 is his most recent movie in which he played the role of Mr. Hidayaat. The movie is about a cricketer who turns into a kick-boxer to avenge the death of his brother.


Salim Shah made quite a mark in the Indian television industry with his first serial “Just Mohabbat” in 1996. The story spirals around the life of Jai who lives in a hostel in Dehradun, away from his parents Raj, played by Salim Shah. “Kashmeer”, another TV series was shot in Kashmir and telecasted on Star Plus in the year 2003. Salim plays the role of Saiffudin Bhatt. This serial showcases the life of three main characters and their families set in the beautiful location of Kashmir.


Salim Shah also enacted in Bengali TV serial namely Byomkesh Bakshi. The character is a fictional detective in Bengali literature. “Meri Awaz Ko Mil Gayi Roshni” began in 2007. Salim Shah plays the role of Mr. Vijendra Malik, who is the father of the male lead, Raj. The story is about Raj and Sudha’s love and how Sudha wants to become a singer to fulfil her mother’s desire.

20. Anang Desai

Anang Desai was born on May 4, 1953 at Ahmedabad. He is married to ‘Chitra Desai’, who is a lawyer and has two sons. He went to ‘National School of Drama’, Delhi to hone his acting skills and graduated in 1978. He then, for the next 8 years, remained connected to institute’s Theater Company.
He started his acting career with his debut appearance in the Oscar winning Hollywood movie, ‘Gandhi’. The movie was released in 1982, wherein he performed the role of ‘J.B Kriplani’. Since then, he had acted in around 85 Bollywood movies. He has performed almost all types of characters in his 3 decades of Bollywood career.
He has also been working for TV industry since 1987, when he appeared in the political TV series, ‘Raj Se Swaraj’. The next year, he did a few episodes of all time hit Tele series, ‘Bharat Ek Khoj’ as ‘Raja Ram Mohan Roy’ and as ‘Ibrahim Lodi’. The second season was named as ‘Instant Khichdi’ wherein he again donned the role of ‘Tulsidas Parekh’ but this time the TV series was broadcasted on Star One (a sister channel of Star Plus) from 2005 to 2006. Govind Namdev is a veteran actor who has performed a good number of character roles in Bollywood movies. He has also worked for some television serials and shows and he has also made a name in movies of regional languages. It should be noted that in his debut movie Shola Aur Shabnam, Govind Namdev played a negative role of a corrupt cop. While he has played some positive character roles too, but one can say that mostly he has played negative or antagonist roles. An alumnus of National School of Drama New Delhi, he has performed some notable theatrical works too. Some of the popular theatre dramas for which Govind Namdev has worked includes Tughlak directed by Ebrahim Alkazi. Some other popular plays of Govind Namdev are The Fools, Cherry Orchard, Andhayug, Othello, Azar Ka Khwab, Matta Villas, and Marco Millions.

 

Govind Namdev appeared in the television series Viruddh – Har Rishta Ek Kurukshetra which was telecasted on Sony TV in 2007. Namdev played the role of Mr. Sinha in the series whose main lead was Smriti Irani playing the role of Vasudha Raisinghaniya-Verma. Another popular serial for which Govind Namdev worked for was Aashirwad which was aired on Zee TV in the year 1998. In this serial, Govind Namdev played the role of Purushottam Choudhary, a strict patriarch. Navin Nischol also played a significant role in this serial.

Chandra Mohan is a versatile and popular Telugu actor. He was introduced with the Telugu film Rangula Ratnam in 1966. He has acted in nearly 500 films. He has acted as a hero, as a supporting actor and as a comedian.
