Mamta Luthra is an Indian television actress who hails from Delhi but presently lives in Mumbai and regularly performs in supporting roles in various TV serials.
She was first noticed in the serial '
Rishton Se Badi Pratha
' which was aired on Colors channel during 2010 in the role of the grandmother of the male protagonist. The serial was produced by
Pearl Grey
and directed by Jatin Ravasla. It was a serial based on the background of western Uttar Pradesh where honour killing is observed regularly and rampantly. The story is about two young lovers who fall in love with each other and in turn earn the wrath of their respective families who want to kill both the lovers for the honour of their families. The role of Dadi played by Mamta who on the one hand loves her grandson very much and on the other hand cannot agree with his marriage to his girl. She acclaimed high regards for her great acting in the serial. Unfortunately the serial could not pick up much due to violence and beating and ended abruptly in may 2011 after running for nearly six months.
She was again seen in 2011 Sony TV serial 'Bade Achchhe Lagte Hain' of Balaji Telefilms which is one of the most popular TV serial of present times and ended very recently in July 2014. Mamta again was in the role of a grandmother-Nani and her role was highly appreciated by viewers. She also appeared in the role of Mausi in the popular Zee TV serial '
Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke
' where she performed the character of an old lady highly opposed to modern views and typically orthodox and dominating matriarch who won't tolerate anything against her wishes.
