Her eldest, Pragya is a practical, dedicated and hardworking. She supports her family and teaches on college to ensure the future of her family. Because of her hard work, she forgot to unwind sometimes or go out to socialite. Bulbul, the youngest daughter is high spirited, smart and her head is in the clouds, yet a total dreamer.

Pragya was offered a marriage proposal from the family of Abhishek Prem Mehra or Abhi (), a popular rock star. She was hesitant because she doesn’t want people to think that she only marries Abhi because of her money. But Dadi, the grandmother of Abhi, believed she is the best for Abhi but Abhi has a girlfriend named Tanu. But Abhi agrees to marry her because he wants to obey Dadi. To make things easy, Abhi admitted his relationship with Tanu to her bride to be. He also told Tanu that he will later end his marriage with Pragya so they can continue their relationship. Abhi and Pragya got married but later, they mistakenly thought that Purab (childhood friend of Abhi played by ) is Pragya’s boyfriend. They didn’t know that Bulbul and Purab is in a relationship.

To make things complicated, Alia loves Purab while Bulbul has many admirers. Alia, Mitali and Tanu complicate the lives of Pragya and Bulbul. Kumkum Bhagya story has many twists that entertain the viewers. Different characters were added to the show, following with trials and ordeals to the lead stars. The serial already completed one season. Kumkum Bhagya started with low ratings but it later become one of the Top 5 Most Watched serial on all GEC’s and Zee TV’s second most watched show. It was also called as the Biggest Fiction Launch of 2014.
