Plot

Shakuntala is the adopted daughter of Rishi Kanva. She falls in love with Dushyanata, the king of Puru Dynasty.She confesses her love to him at Kanva’s hermitage and marries him. The king leaves for his kingdom, promising his wife that he will soon send a suitable guard to escort her to his place. In the climax, the sage Durvasha curses Shakunatala, and Dushyanta forgets everything about her. Shakuntala gets pregnant but has no place in her husband’s memory. Eventually, the concession of the curse comes to light and the family reunites again.

Star Performance

Samantha played the role of Shakuntala well. She gave life to the character and the story. Playing the role of a woman from mythological times is appreciable. Dev Mohan’s performance could have been much better. After his debut in Sufiyum Sujatayum, his fans expected much more from him. Other actors in the movie were playing along.

Analysis

The movie is an experiment by the makers which somewhere is a failure. However, the movie also has some satisfied audience. The characters in the film are missing the essence. It is a love story but, the love and chemistry shown is not that deep and emotional. The VFX has minor flaws. The only thing the film has is Samantha’s performance, and She has been given less screen time in the second half. The climax scene of Rishi Durvasha is a little effective and has impressed the audience.

• Samantha’s delivery of emotions without lines.

What’s not there?

• VFX could have been better
• Bond between the main stars is missing
• Attention to detail is missing

Verdict

The making is not up to mark. There were a bit more expectations from the movie. If you want to watch something mythological, you can go for it, otherwise there are plenty of other films to watch.
