Plot
Naa Bangaaru Talli literally means "My Golden Girl". Based in Amalapuram, the story revolves around Durga. She is a bright and studious girl who is an overachiever in school and is an active advocate for women's rights. Srinivas, her father, is beyond proud of his daughter.
When Durga wants to go to Hyderabad for higher studies, Srinivas refuses. He often goes to Hyderabad for work (although no one knows what he does) and deems the city unsafe. But when Durga continues to insist, Srinivas finally agrees.
Srinivas and Durga arrive in Hyderabad, but in a tragic turn of events, someone kidnaps Durga from the hotel. It is revealed that Srinivas is involved in the business of luring young girls into flesh trade. A woman that he wronged a long time ago has come back into his life to extract vengeance, and kidnaps his daughter to do so.
Upon being kidnapped, the people force Durga into prostitution, but she eventually escapes with the help of the woman who abducted her. Upon finding her father, she spits in his face, unable to bear what he has done. Crushed under guilt, regret, and shame, Srinivas commits suicide.
Star Performance
Anjali Patil is the brightest shining star of this film. Her performance as Durga is incredibly moving and adds so much depth to the film. Her scenes in the brothel are so powerful, and she delivers her character with grace even in the lowest points of the film.
Siddique, who plays the role of Srinivas, has also done a great job. He makes you hate his character, which is good.
The other actors have also done a goood job.
Analysis
Naa Bangaaru Talli, based on a real story, certainly delivers on that part by exposing the harsh and ugly realities of the world. It brings so many important issues to light. It is a much needed film in this day and age to educate and inform people about the kind of atrocities that are still present in this world.
The plotlines are very well done, from Durga's righteous character to Siddique's inner conflicts to the overall commentary on the state of the world.
The cinematography of the film could be improved upon. It seems slighly unnecessary at times. The film is also exceedingly slow, and the runtime could have been cut short by a few minutes to maintain more attention from the audience.
The soundtrack of the film by Sharreth and Shantanu Moitra is almost haunting at specific points, but that only contributes to the film's eeriness. Overall, this film is intense and a relevant commentary on current social issues.

Verdict
This film is certainly worth watching, especially for the incredible acting by the cast. It may have its flaws, but it is a contemporarily relevant movie. It is definitely worth a shot.
