Plot

Anu works as an assistant director to Maruthi. She has been expecting the right breakthrough that takes her career to a significant level. She has a friend, Dhana, who also want to get good roles in the films. Anu pens stories and it is shocking to know that the incidents in her story come true. The appalling thing is that the murders penned in the story take place. An ACP joins his hands with Anu to find out the central point for these happenings and tries to stop. Did they succeed? Watch the film to know the rest.

Star Performance

Although Anasuya tries her best, with the poor scripting, her role didn’t impress the audience. Srinivas Avasarala’s performance is good.

Analysis

It’s a fashion to pick scripts from some films and mix it up to make a new film. Kathanam seems to be of that kind. It has the traces of all hit films in recent years including “ Bhaagamathie.” The film also has the same dialogue in a particular scene. When they say the dialogue about mix n match scripts, the audiences’ mind voice will be: We found it out from where you have taken the bits. Anasuya is one among the notable performers in Tollywood. If she undertakes a project, then people believe that it will have some active subject. That’s why people had visited the theaters today. But, this time they couldn’t say that Anasuya’s choice is right. The cinematography is okayish. The music is not so impressive.

What’s There?

  • Srinivas Avasarala’s performance

What’s Not There?

  • Story, screenplay and direction are unimpressive
  • BGM hurts the ears
  • Anasuya’s fans might be disappointed

Verdict

The film has nothing significant to offer. If you didn’t get any movies this week, you could try this. If you want to watch this only for Anasuya, then you could try, but don’t go with many expectations.
