It is sometimes fascinating to read about how film stars, especially in the South, get into the industry from totally diverse fields, and with no conscious intentions to be in movies. Andrea Jeremiah’s career seems to fit into this category. Her childhood ambition was to go for higher studies and get to become a psychiatrist. But music was always in the background, as she started learning classical Western piano when she was just eight, and she quickly showed her prowess when she formed her own troupe called Young Stars which also was a precursor for her later singing and music composing career.

Vetrimaaran is an Indian director and screenwriter in Tamil Film Industry. Born in Cuddalore, Vetrimaaran is from Ranipet, Vellore District, Tamilnadu. He was born to Dr. V. Chitravel who was a veterinary scientist and Megala Chitravel who was a well known Novelist. Vetrimaaran studied till his tenth grade in Ranipet. Later in 1994 he moved to Chennai to pursue English Literature from Loyola College. Vetrimaaran discontinued his Master's degree and showed interest in making a career in the film industry. The Loyola department of visual communications offered him an elective course known as Television presentation. As Vetrimaaran completed this course, he started developing an interest in filmmaking. Vetrimaaran started his career as an assistant director to Balu Mahendra for Kadai Neram for Sun TV.

Kalaipuli S Thanu is a veteran Tamil film producer, who gave innumerable successful box office films in Tamil Nadu circuit. He also launched a banner with his name, ‘’Kalaipuli Films International"( known as V. Creations) as a distributor. 

Of late, we hear that Kalaipuli S Thanu is prepared to commence shooting for his upcoming film ‘’Kabali ‘’where Rajanikanth is going to play a dual role in the movie. The superstar will play the role of a mafia don and other one as a Malaysian cop. The film has Radhika Apte, playing the female lead and it will be directed by Pa Ranjith. The veteran film producer has derived the title of this film as Rajini plays a character called Kabaleeshwaran. After many years, the superstar will play a dual role. Producer of the movie Kalaipuli S Thanu was in trouble with the title of the film earlier. He has produced 26 films and distributed 6 films so far. He also did in a cameo appearance for a film Magalir Mattum in 1995. His film Vanna Vanna Pookkal directed by Balu Mahendra won the National Film Award for best feature film in Tramil in 1992. Some of the successful movies that he released included Chennai Kadhal (2006),Aalavandhan (2001), Siraichalai (1996) etc. 

In January, 2015, Kalaipuli S Thanu was currently the elected president for Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC),Thanu and company has formulated the idea of establishment of anti-piracy unit with retired cops, makes provisions to release Tamil movies on home DVD within a month of its release and also reduce the digital processing rates charged by UFO, QUBE and other companies. 

Tamil Film Producers Council’s President and veteran producer, Kalaipuli S Thanu had launched two prestigious projects- Kabali and Vijay 59 which has industry’s two biggest names, Rajinikanth and Vijay respectively. Thanu is hopeful that both the films will pull audiences to the theaters.

Suriya Sivakumar is undoubtedly the biggest star in contemporary Tamil film yet most critics would agree that he is truly a ‘real and spontaneous’ actor who can match any character that he plays in screen. His rise in Kollywood cinema came at a time when commercial Tamil films tended to shy away from the dark themes and ambivalent morality associated with film and style. Although Suriya was never seen in any Hindi film (except Ram Gopal Varma’s Rakht Charitra), Suriya’s name became quite popular even in Hindi belt, just because Aamir Khan was doing the Hindi version of Ghajini. Similarly, when Singham was remade for Hindi belt audiences, even Ajay Devgan got inspired to play the police role by just watching how Suriya did the same role. Suriya’s filmography shows that he avoided being typecast and yet proved that his fans would find his films “ an out and out” Suriya’s show. Suriya has made his own identity and was crowned with ‘ dashing star’ tag. The screen name Suriya was given to him by Mani Ratnam. Earlier, this actor had always tried to shy away from camera and never even dreamt to be an actor. In the beginning of his career, one could see him doing some supporting actor role with Vikram and Vijay, but he could steal the show under their nose even. Take the example of his role in Bala's Pithamagan, along with Vikram or even in Mani Ratnam's political drama Aayutha Ezhuthu along with Madhavan and Siddharth, Suriya’s best career time was when Perazhagan got released and his fans and critics applauded him for playing the first dual role in screen. May be after seeing this film, Murugadoss selected him to play the role of a patient who suffered from short-term memory loss and Suriya Sivakumar played his first role (Ghajini) of angry young man who had a rife with corruption and who was blocked off any avenues for justice. Indian cinema had seen earlier only Amitabh Bachchan and perhaps Sunil Dutt (Mother India) playing such anti-hero character so suitably. In 2006, he also had starred with his wife Jyothika( not married then) in N Krishna’ s film ‘Sillunu Oru Kaadhal', where again Suriya had done a fantastic job, He also played dual roles in ‘’Vaaranam Aayiram’’, ‘’Vel’’ ‘’Perazhagan", ", "Maatran" and "7 am Arivu’’, and "Anjaan". He is a few actors in Kollywood whose married life with actress Jyothika, remained untouched with rumour. Their love story too happened slowly when “Kaakha Kaakha” happened, and now they are married and have two kids.

G. V. Prakash Kumar is the new Kollywood singer who, after earning a good name in the music industry, made his acting debut with Pencil opposite Sri Divya, but the project got delayed. His next film Darling got released earlier. Darling was a remake of Telugu film Prema Katha Chitram, which became popular. His third film is going to be in Telugu and Tamil. Telugu film titled Trisha Ledha Nayanthara and Tamil titled Trisha Illana Nayanthara will be released in September 17, 2015. The actor has signed two new films Bruce Lee and Sam Anton, which is getting ready for its shooting.

As a music composer, he already made a huge impact in Tamil Cinema. He was a vocalist on the soundtrack for A R Rahman’s score in Gentleman. Prakash made a contribution to Rahman’s numerous projects. He worked with Harris Jayaraj and sang two popular songs in Anniyan and Unnale Unnale, but he got the break as a full-fledged composer in Tamil film Veyil. His score in Madrasapattinam was appreciated by the masses; especially he cast a spell for his number in the song” "Pookal Pookum Tharunam". The composer made even Dhanush to sing for a song” Voda Voda Voda” and even recorded some songs with his wife Saindhavi.

A young brain deeply rooted in Indian music, his talent needs no mention, but when a singer, composer makes a mark in acting as a hero, it is indeed a milestone in the cine world. Very few had achieved this status, one being legendary playback singer Kishore Kumar. G. V. Prakash Kumar is married to Saindhavi, who is also a playback singer.

Velrajan, also known by the name R. Velraj, was born on 21st October 1969 under the Libra star sign in Thirunagar, Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India. Ameer is an Indian Cinema producer, director, and actor. He works prominently in Tamil cinema. Till date, he has directed four films, out of which three have been successful. Ameer's full name is Ameer Sultan. He was born in Madurai district of Tamil Nadu on December 5, 1966. He has studied economics while worked as an entrepreneur. Later, he worked in the film, Sethu as an assistant director as his debut in the industry. Sethu won many awards for its release in the year 1999.
