Plot
Dharavi Dinesh and his two friends are good-hearted thieves, who are frustrated with the hypocrisy of society. They try to pull the heist of a lifetime, only to unleash a comedy of errors.
Star Performances
Whoever did the casting of this film deserves a pat on his / her back.
Whether or not you like the film, the acting performances are such that you just cannot ignore this film at any cost.
Analysis
‘Manasa Vacha’ is not your regular heist comedy. It is a social commentary as well. However, the best part about this film is that nothing is forced on the viewer. The elements discussed come naturally, leaving for the audience to decide.
To begin with, the technical department has done a brilliant job from their side. The film is slick, nothing is over the top. Yes, the humor in the film does make a transition from subtle to slightly loud in some moments. But for movie-buffs, who are fans of films like ‘Ramji Rao Speaking’, this is nothing irritating. The experimental approach to humor in this film is surprisingly good, and even if you don’t burst out laughing, you are certainly not irritated by the quality of comic punches in this movie.
The editor has done a great job with the runtime, and so has the writer with the screenplay. However, the standout performers are the actors, Dileesh Pothan in particular. He is to Malayalam cinema what

is to Bollywood. His casual demeanor, coupled with sly humor, is so effective, that you can’t help but admire his dedication to the work. Kirron Kumar has done an equally impressive job as an auto driver.
The only possible flaws in this film are the humor element, as well as the way the story is narrated. The humor of this movie isn’t as rib-tickling as some would want. Likewise, the storytelling is not extremely out of the world. However, the realism in the treatment more than makes up for it.

‘Manasa Vacha’ is a comedy with a difference. It oscillates between realism and absurdity but never over-relies on either. Yet, the experimental approach to humor in this film is both believable and likable. The acting performances, especially by Dileesh Pothan and Kirron Kumar, are simply phenomenal. Do give this comedy a try!
