Plot
The film is an emotional family drama. It is about a family waiting for a man doing his job abroad. It revolves around the feelings of Aashiq’s father and his wife, Shyni. The story sets in 2000 in Kozhikode, Kerala. The family consists Aashiq, his wife Shyni, his two children, and his father, Maash. Aashiq and Shyni had an intercaste marriage. The first half of the film focuses entirely on the construction of a new house by Aashiq’s father.
Aashiq (who never appears on the screen) is working in Bahrain. Shyni takes care of her two children. Shyni, who belongs to a Christian family, gets no support from her parents, Chacko and Mariya, due to her intercaste marriage with Aashiq. But her neighbor, Lakshmi Amma, always supports her and stands by her. The family undergoes a lot of stress.
Shyni and her two children are waiting for the arrival of Aashiq, who is believed to be working in Bahrain. Wanting to surprise him, Aashiq’s father is busy with the construction of his new house. However, the family gets to know that Aashiq is not working in Bahrain. He has opted to work in Afghanistan. This worsens their pain. Terrorist activity breaks out in Afghanistan. The family’s excitement for Aashiq’s arrival turns into fear and anxiety. Will Aashiq return safely? Is he really in Afghanistan? To know this, you have to watch this movie.
Star Performances
Actor Nassar Latif, who is also the film's producer, did excellent acting. He has showcased all the emotional feelings required in emotional drama. Priya Mani perfectly executed her role as the mother of two children. She did her act with full emotions. All the other actors did what was required.
Analysis
The second half is more engaging when the film's central concept is showcased. Nassar Latif has done a great job. His performance in all the climax scenes of the house and at the collector's office is impressive. The emotional scenes are perfect. The film's central theme is showcased very late, because of which the viewers lose their interest very early.
