SV Rajendra Singh Babu, who is known for his work on social issues, his latest film is ' Rebel' starring Aditya, Suhasini Mani Rathnam, Preethika Rao, Sanjana in lead roles.

Plot The story is about Kartik (Aditya), a commando who is concerned about the poor quality of weapons that are being used by defense people. His mother Anupama, who is Defence Secretary of India is also fighting for the same cause. The person behind this substandard quality is the Defence Minister himself, who is also a Don. In a case, Rana pockets huge money from a weapon's deal by forgery and doing Anupama's signature. Then the plot shifts to Singapore, where Anupama gets the money of deal back. But the goons of the Don keep on struggling for the password of the bank throughout the movie to get that money back. Meanwhile, Kartik falls for Preethika, a doctor in jail. To survive a CBI inquiry Defence Minister, Rana plans his fake death and becomes a more powerful and evil Don. How will Kartik save his mother, love, and country is what this flick offers.

Analysis We have seen SV Rajendra Singh Babu's directed films in past too. They have a certain level. But this one is not at that level. Nothing has gone right in the case of 'Rebel'. Prominently, the story, which is boring and makes no sense, fails and then the direction also let us down. Dubbing is also below average. Background score and songs are also of no relief and just irritate the audience. Dialogues are pathetic. Acting performances just worsen the situation and add to the drowning flick. One won't understand that the writer took five long years to write this script and even of such long duration, this is the outcome. The only relief is the visuals of Singapore which are mesmerizing. The cinematography is also okay.

Star Performances: Aditya has an opportunity to play and portrays his skills as an NSG commando, but he has failed to make the most of this chance. He lacks in important scenes and also in fight sequences which unintentionally turn out to be hilarious. Suhasini Mani Rathnam plays Kartik's mother, and she is a major let down with her terrible performance. Preetika's character has nothing much to offer. Also, her love story with Kartik lacks depth, and you won't find anything attractive about their chemistry. Avinash, Ramakrishna, Sharat Lohitashava are a few supporting actors who have done well.

What's there ????

1. The part of the flick shot in Singapore is superb and appealing.

2. Visuals are stunning.

3. The cinematography of Singapore is mesmerizing.

4. Some supporting actors have done justice to their role.

What's not there ????

1. Dialogues of the film are terrible and strange.

2. Dubbing of the voice is also irritating.

3. A story lacks any freshness which could hold the audience.

4. Actors have also let down the script with an awful performance.

Verdict: In lesser words, watch 'Rebel' only if you want to kill your time and also to some extent torture yourself. Else spare your time for some good film.
