Plot

Vaidehi is a hard-working and skilled officer at the CID branch. She is given a case about the death of a doctor. She is conflicted whether the cause of death was murder or suicide. She sets out to find the truth at any given cost, which leads her down a spiral or twists, turns, lies and adventure.

Star Performance

All the performances were excellent. The cast delivers their respective characters with nuance, which made the audience connect with the characters. They have done their best to deliver an otherwise lack-luster film with sincerity.

Analysis

The movie has clearly been made with a lot of effort but it doesn’t show well on screen. There are too many inconsistencies in the plot to overlook. The structure of the plot is nothing special by any means. The lead is a great character that hasn’t been explored completely. The flaws of the film leave very little for the audience to enjoy. It is a typical commercial entertainer despite trying to be different, which is quite disappointing. The movie would have benefited from a more polished plot.

What’s there?

• The film has a short run time, which makes it an easy watch.
• It is relatively fast paced, which manages to capture the audience’s attention.
•  The lead is a strong and tough woman who leads a team full of men, which subverts the gender expectations.
•  The film is not over the top, they manage to keep the narrative subtle and realistic.
•  The film manages to maintain its entertainment factor.

What’s not there?

• The story is pretty cliché and doesn’t stray away from the common plot-points.
• Can get predictable and boring.
• The movie is a commercial entertainer with nothing new to add to the suspense and action genre.
• The story suffers from plot-holes and inconsistencies in the investigative process.
•  Some of the events seem irrelevant to the film as a whole and feel disconnected from the rest of the film.

Verdict

D/O Parvathamma is a film that can be skipped easily as it has nothing much to offer and suffers from major problems in terms of plot that is hard to overlook.
