Plot

Shakeela is a teenager, who has dreams and interests like any other people of her age. Although they are poor, she finds some solace in venturing fishing with her father. She is much interested in playing in school dramas. Shakeela’s mother is a junior artist in the movie industry. Unexpectedly, Shakeela’s father dies and her mother has to take care of the entire family. They shift their base to Cochin, to seek some opportunity, to get their daily bread. Shakeela is the eldest one in her family and so, after her mother, she had to take care of her siblings. How she entered the cinema industry? How her life changes drastically, forms the rest of the story.

Star Performance

Richa is a wonderful actress. She fits well in the role, but her potential is not used much. The same goes for Pankaj Tripathi.

Analysis

Generally, biopics have emotional scenes and overwhelming performances. It happens only when the script and the screenplay fall in a right place with neat execution. The story only focuses on the cinema side of Shakeela and not her family life. Although there were some scenes related to Shakeela’s personal life, in the beginning, the director forgot to concentrate on it, later. With the perfect cast, including Richa Chadda and Pankaj Tripathi, the director could have made use of them to a great extent. They are not properly used and hence some interesting scenes are missing.
