Plot
Two months after the mayhem in Haseen Dilruba, Rani(Tapsee Pannu) is living in Agra and working in a beauty parlor and Rishu(Vikrant Massey) is doing odd jobs to get quick money so they both can escape to Thailand. When their plan goes sloppy, they seek help from a mysterious admirer.
Star performance
Sunny Kaushal is the clear stand-out here. The mystery he brings whenever he comes on screen is impeccable. Tapsee Pannu also does a good job; she portrays the sense of panic and urgency well. Vikrant Massey also does a fine job. Jimmy Shergill does what he’s been asked to do.
Analysis
One of the best things this movie does is how self-aware it is. The characters know their actions are wrong. Dinesh Pandit, the fictional writer of this universe, is the driving force that makes these characters deranged and unhinged. The film shows themes of love and obsession and how twisted it can be. The movie in the first half builds the anticipation quite well. But the second half was a downfall. There are moments where you’ll question how the police are not noticing them. Rani and Rishu have their meetups in the daylight; despite being calculative in their plan, they leave several clues and are amateurs, but the police are just incompetent. The CCTV footage is used when it's convenient; otherwise, there is no mention of it. The movie works well when it talks about obsession and to what extent humans can go; the dialogues are great, but when it comes to the police proceedings, it falls flat. The police are not even doing the primary job well. It shows whether it is too easy to commit a crime and run away scott-free. The climax is where the division of the audience will happen; some would appreciate it, others would laugh their ass off. This time, Kanika Dillion lacked the depth and suspense the first movie had.

Verdict
Phir Aayi Haseen Dibruba is a one-time watch. If you liked Haseen Dilruba this one would be a downer as the story after a time is predictable and you’ll get frustrated by the incompetence of the police force.
