With experimentation rife and the effect of global viewing patterns, new genres are getting inducted even in Bollywood, with “ Go Goa Gone Click to look into! >> Read More... ” being the first film falling in the category of zombie comedy or zom-com, which combines an unusual mix of the normally mutually exclusive feelings of fear and humour. This is exactly what happens when real life characters end up in a sort of Zombieland inhabited by the living dead, as in this movie.

Plot: The plot starts off without any initial hints of what is to follow, with Hardik ( Kunal Khemu Kunal Khemu is an Indian actor who was involved wi >> Read More... ), Luv ( Vir Das Vir is a stand-up comedian and actor. He is known >> Read More... ) and Bunny ( Anand Tiwari Anand Tiwari was born on May 29, 1983 in Mumbai, M >> Read More... ) living together as roommates. The best way to tide over the blues is to dash off to Goa – that is what they seem to think after Hardik becomes jobless and his girlfriend deserts Luv. Tugging along Bunny with them, they land in Goa, soon to get caught in a series of eventful happenings. Luv lives up to his name falling for Luna ( Puja Gupta Pooja Gupta or Puja Gupta, is a Bollywood Actress >> Read More... ), whom he finds there and gets immediately invited by her to a rave party along with his mates.

The party was being arranged in a secluded island and hosted by a Russian don, Boris ( Saif Ali Khan Saif Ali Khan is a film celebrity born to actress  >> Read More... ), ostensibly for the launch of a new drug. Whether it was due to its effect or not, the following day they find the island swarming with zombies. They save Luna from her lone villa and herd together for their common security. They get used to near hits and misses as they get down to tackle the zombies and try to get away from the island. The remaining part of the film consists of the hilariously fearsome escapades of the four of them, guided by Boris, who claims to be a zombie slayer.

In spite of the newness of its genre, “GGG” seems to fall more into an adventure category rather than as a horror film, and the comic element is deftly woven into the script bringing out a sort of nonsensical humour. The aim seems to be tickle and make you shiver at the same time. Technical qualities apart, directors Raj and DK deserve credit for taking the courage to introduce a totally new genre to Bollywood. And there is competent acting too. Saif slips into the role effortlessly and even manages to lift proceedings. Between the three of them Kunal Khemu, Vir Das and Anand Tiwari project a really adventurous threesome, and yet they do not overdo it. For all of them this film could be a landmark in their careers. For once, Puja gets an extended role and lives up to it well. Sachin and Jigar while composing the songs have obviously kept the mood of the film in mind, and their tracks reflect the wackiness of the theme punched with humour.

Verdict: Whether you understand the finer nuances of what is a zom-com genre or not, if you are a keen moviegoer, you can get entertained by the humour and adventure that it would provide.
