A Scandal is a story that is quite ridiculously fashioned, jumbled together with a lot of many characters and also alludes to sexual motivations. It is a psycho-horror drama and loses all the tricks to lure its audience. There is ample making out sequences, scantily clad women with a perverse nature to fire up its obvious charms.

Plot The story is about Kuhn, a nine-year-old girl, who drowns in a lake in Nainital. Soon after, her father, Manav (Manav Kaul) who blames himself for his daughter’s death, becomes manic, gets depressed, and falls off a cliff. He eventually survives the incident and goes on to lead a strange life of hallucinations and complete metamorphosis. His niece, Koya (Reeth Majumdar) and her three other filmmaker friends come to the house to film the strange paranormal activities going on there. After that, the narrator stretches its unimaginable leanings to include incest, extra-marital underpinnings, and murder. Attempting live recording of events only makes the final reveal look and sound way too weird.

Analysis The movie revolves around sex, murder, paranormal activities, and utter crap. The director has attempted to create an arousal through the acting of the cast, but all the hopes go in vain. The film tries to bite off more than it can chew. Death, depression, incest, sex, possession, too many issues are combined.

Star Performances: On one hand, some potential is shown by the male actor Johnny Bawejal, but the lead actress has portrayed the glamor factor throughout and is also eagerly waiting for the chance to shed her clothes. Manav Kaul overacts to almost everything also when he has to essay a bizarre character who is suicidal, depressive and addicted to kinky sex.

What’s there?

1. This psychological thriller keeps you guessing if the characters are genuinely victims or sinners with ulterior motives.

2. The anticipation of truth and a mysterious backstory keeps you hooked.

What’s not there?

1. No scenic beauty displayed.

2. Sex is the overpowering issue in the entire story.

3. The forced love triangle overflowing with insignificant kissing scenes and steamy songs is unnecessary and also slutty.

Verdict If you are too keen on watching a film that has bizarre as well as nonsensical stuff then A Scandal is the perfect treat that you can give to your eyes and ears.
