Plot:
Curtis LaForche, a construction worker from Lagrange, Ohio, hallucinates about an upcoming storm with oil rain, swarms of black birds and being harmed by people close to him. He decides to keep it to himself and instead channelizes his anxiety in constructing a shelter home for his family during the storm. His hallucinations grow manifold and he begins to cut ties with anyone he feels, has done wrong or can hurt him or his family (wife Samantha, and deaf daughter Hannah). After a point, he even begins to break his work rules and use that equipment for his shelter construction. He also visits a free counselor. When Samantha comes to know about all of this, she is infuriated. Due to excessive intake of medicine, Curtis has to be hospitalised and when he recovers, he tells her the truth. Eventually, darkness covers their lives; no job and no money, even for his daughter's operation. His condition worsens. Later, a tornado warning sends him and his family into the shelter home. Was the storm actually arriving? Did all of Curtis’ hallucinations come true? What did the family do later? To answer all these questions go watch the movie.
Analysis:
The movie is brilliantly cinematographed. The deep plot creates an eerie feeling in many scenes. Michael has wonderfully played his part, giving the character depth and reality. The mystery is created in a swift manner and the movie succeeds in keeping the audience glued to their seats. Although the end is not very surprising, the direction is one that has won hearts across.
Verdict:
Go watch this movie. Its slow, but it will surely interest a majority of the audience.
