Analysis
Once upon a time, there was a movie called ‘Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna.’ It explores the journey of dysfunctional relationships, and almost glorifies adultery. Now export the plotline to Toronto, and you have ‘Take this Waltz’!
Yes, that’s ‘Take this Waltz’ in a nutshell. Barring a few exceptions here and there, the storyline is the same. A woman who is fed up with her marital life, attempting to build a relationship outside the same.
Now that is not something unpardonable. What is baffling, however, is the way the protagonist goes about it, without a second thought towards the people she is involved with. At one point, a supporting actor bursts out at the character of Margot. The frustration exhibited is not just real, it is something that even the viewers will feel after watching this film.
This film proves that Seth Rogen can act as well. However, he certainly did not deserve a role as pitiable as that of Lou. However, when the writer [also the filmmaker] is herself confused about what road the narrative should take, how can the actors be blamed?
Apart from Seth Rogen, Sarah Silverman as the troubled Geraldine leaves a solid impression. Despite the movie having Michelle Williams in the lead role, it is Sarah who has a better screen presence.

Verdict
‘ Take This Waltz Click to look into! >> Read More... ’ is one film that attempts to be nice and cheery, but falls short of expectations. Writer cum director Sarah Polley appears to be more confused than the actors. Only the performances of Seth Rogen and Sarah Silverman. It is watchable, but only if you are not looking for logic! Â
