Plot

Corey Gage, a super spy is on a mission to capture an arms dealer Doyle Egan when he accidently bumps into Pam Grayson, a beautiful young lady working at a cosmetics shop and instantly falls in love with her. He is completely smitten by her, to the point that he forgets the fact that he is on a mission, and by the time he realises it, Doyle Egan has already escaped. Soon after, he ditches his friend and colleague, Smuts on a double date in Kathmandu for the homey dates with the woman of his dreams, aka Pam Grayson, where he decides to leave his current job and settle down in the suburbs with Pam, obviously. But will he be able to leave it all behind? Turns out he couldn’t. The lack of adventure and adrenaline has left him feeling frustrated which ended up straining his marriage. Seeing all this, his best friend tries to help him with a way back to the spy world by offering him one last job to get the closure on his last failed mission by capturing the arms dealer, Doyle Egan. What will happen next? Will he succeed in his mission and get closure he deserves? Will he be able to save his marriage? Or will it all go down the drain? The rest of the story deals with that.

Star Performance

Drew Van Acker and Poppy Delevingne did a fantastic job of portraying the couple during both the honeymoon phase and the settling down phase. They were well-supported by Blake Anderson, Brittany Furlan, Natasha Bassett, Max Silvestri, Winslow Bright, and others. Brittany Furlan gives one of the best performances as Brianna.

Analysis

The star cast was decent in their roles. The director did a poor job of setting the flow of the story. The script was below average. The background score was good enough but the cinematography was disappointing. It’s really confusing to figure out who is the film’s target audience. Who is it targeting? The film is filled with adult language and humor for younger audience while lacking the depth to appeal to anyone. The film clearly bit off more than it could chew.

What’s There?

  • Performances by the star cast were decent.
  • The background score was good enough.

What’s Not There?

  • The cinematography was disappointing.
  • The use of green screen was poor.
  • The script lacks the depth.

Verdict

Spy Intervention is the story of a young couple who are trying to make their marriage work in between everything life throws at them. It can be a one-time watch just for Drew Van Acker, as you must. It was fun watching him transform from his cool spy persona to a suburbanite trying to fit in.
