Plot
The movie follows a detective trio of Detective Zeke Banks, Marcus Banks and Detective William Schenk as they work to unravel the mystery of rather gruesome deaths that has surfaced in their city. They work to find the origin of these deaths, as history repeats itself and Jigsaw killer has been at his hand again. In the sequel to Saw VI, the Saw franchise yet again unleashes ‘the criminal mastermind’ with his twisted idea of justice. In the run against time Zeke ultimately finds himself at the centre of the jigsaw puzzle. Will Zeke be able to find the Jigsaw? Will the trio put a stop to these deaths? The rest of the story deals with this.
Star Performance
It was really Marisol Nichols Captain Angie Garza that actually shined throughout the movie. It was refreshing to see a bad ass female character in a sea of male actors.
The acting of the trap actors was another highlight, as they excellently portrayed the brutality and panic clubbed with horror that make some of the best scenes of the movie.
Analysis
Being a sequel to a genre movie, it lacked the attention that was required of it. There was nothing new to the movie. Not much change in storyline, the movie is a missed opportunity that failed tremendously to keep the audience engaged. It certainly did not create any new fans, if anything it could actually have lost a few!
The change of genre to Chris Rock’s acting from comedy to horror made the movie a much anticipated one. But the expectations did not deliver as the acting fell below average. Rock was grim throughout the movie, which disappointed not a few fans of the series and the comedian. While Rock is a die hard fan of the movies, it would have been better to have a fitting lead.
There was not much of a creative input from the writers and the script lacked novelty; same old, same old….
The movie felt slow maybe due to the said lack of novelty and it was as if you were crawling for one and a half hour, just for a not so great 3D ending .The clichés from beginning to end dried up the movie. It was as if the writers were trying to draw water from a dried up well.

Verdict
Spiral left people spirally. It was a considerable miss that did not deliver as expected; neither in acting nor in box office. For the lovers of saw, it was not well executed; but one could still watch if just for the gore and to stay in the Saw-web or for simple experimenting. Not one to watch with much pre- expectations. Too obvious from the get go. Overall, better to skip than watch.
