Plot: Jarrod (Eric Balfour) travels with his girlfriend Elaine (Scottie Thompson) to Los Angeles for the birthday celebrations of his best friend Terry’s party. While one of the employees of Terry enquires about Jarrod’s possible joining in Terry’s special effects company which he later on thinks over and discusses with her girlfriend who in turn reveals that she is pregnant. But the happiness is interrupted by an alien invasion that takes place at Los Angeles and hypnotizes everyone who comes in contact of it.

Jarrod helps the remaining people who still have not been possessed by the blue light but meets up an angry couple Oliver and Candice over the events and what should they do now. Oliver gets caught in the blue light leaving Candice devastated, still somehow he regains control of himself and fights against the aliens with the help of Jarrod and Elaine but still they are not enough to overpower the aliens as they keep striking back fiercely, meanwhile Terry is abducted when they plan to flee. Later U.S. Air forces are deployed to rescue people but they too fail to protect people.

Jarrod and Elaine fight back with few of the survivors left with them, but heave a sigh of relief when they see helicopters approaching them, but that too is short lived as these are destroyed by the aliens and Jarred and Elaine are taken by them. Later it is shown that the world has been taken over by aliens, wrecking havoc upon it. Jarrod and Elaine wake up at an alien ship, where Jarrod’s brain is sucked out while he and Elaine watch in horror and helplessness. Elaine is thrown to some other room where she sees Human skeletons spread everywhere.

While the robot which acquired Jarrod’s brain is now in full control of Jarrod. Aliens prepare to extract the baby out of her and do something wrong when Jarrod interrupts and saves both of them and then Elaine realizes that it is Jarrod who is saving them and will as the screen fades to black.

Analysis: As if “Men in Black” was not enough, I present to you Skyline which is not that much of an attempt at showing off the Alien Invasion. Even though it starts off well it is not sufficient to make us relive those days when we used to enjoy such movies. However, the screenplay and cinematography are fine tuned and do not disappoint but still it is not enough. Storyline does not investigate much of the characters and focuses primarily the invasion that has struck the whole world. Actors have played their parts well but still are unable to lift this movie up.

Star Performances: The lead pair compel us feel their helplessness as they fend off aliens out of the planet. Eric And Scottie have played their parts well and to say the movie is worth watching because of their performances.

What's There?

• “How aliens would invade the present world?” probably the film has tried to answer this and succeeds somewhere.

• Good performances by the lead pair.

• The tension has been built well which gets saved eventually for the last scene.

What's There?

• Freshness in terms of storyline is missing.

• Other actors just play around as the main actors go on with the movie.

• The visual effects are non-innovative and look just like their predecessors.

Verdict: If you have not watched movies like “ Independence Day Click to look into! >> Read More... ”, “Men in Black”, go for this movie other wise grab those as you can skip this movie over those.
