Room is the movie adaptation of the 2010 novel of the same name by Emma Donoghue and it is no exaggeration to tell that the movie is loyal to the novel. The novel itself was inspired by crimes taking place in real life. But the challenge for the filmmaker is to bring the true essence of the novel to the screen. The perspective of a small kid, which was shown in the book, may turn overemotional if not narrated properly in the big screen. Well, let’s see whether Room manages to capture our attention.

Star Performances
Brie Larson and Jacob Tremblay astound us with their onscreen bonding as mother and son. I wonder whether any other film could have shown the bonding between a mother and son in such a beautiful manner. While Larson completely gets into the skin of the character of the selfless mother, whose only preoccupation is her son’s well-being, Tremblay just lives his character. Joan Allen Joan Allen, an American actress, was born in Roche >> Read More... (as Jacob’s grandmother) and William H Macy (as Jacob’s grandfather) also shine in their characters.
Analysis
The movie takes us into a world of self-realization. Also, the uncompromising bond between a mother and her young son is shown in a commendable manner in the movie. The director of the movie, Lenny Abrahamson, infuses sufficient amount of curiosity in the sequences wherein Brie teaches her son about the outside world. And when Jacob finally comes out of his room, the movie’s intensity is multiplied. The movie doesn’t fail in conveying a message that perseverance can work wonders in the face of horror.
