This remake of the 1987 RoboCop is definitely bringing a set of faster and fresher action to paint us a picture of a part robot and part human cops with such advanced technology and machinery that holding on to humanity would prove to be much harder than expected.
The movie starts by introducing us to the multinational company OmniCorp, who is at the head of the robotic technology whose inventions are being used in other countries as an effective method of law-enforcement. However, back home when they find a dedicated cop very badly injured in an encounter, they decide to take that chance to make him into a half human half robot police officer. In their quest to make him a ruthless and soulless killer who will fight against crime and also make more like him so that they could eventually achieve the Utopian society with no crime whatsoever, they slowly start losing grip about the fact there is the head and the heart of a man inside of all the robotic technology. Inside, there is actually a man who is someone’s husband, someone’s father who is slowly getting turned into a heartless monster.Â
There have been attempts to tell us that whatever they are showing happening in the year 2028 is nothing more than a reflection of whatever is already the present political scenario in the year we are living today. In fact, it becomes much more apparent in the scene where we can see Samuel L. Jackson arguing on TV about the law enforcement conditions in Iran, which can seem to tick off critics. Moreover, the performances of Gary Oldman One of the most respected actors in Hollywood. Kno >> Read More... also almost convinces us of the same, but the hype action sequences showcasing the super-abilities of the new RoboCop is quite impressive.Â
There is considerable debate over the fact whether this movie is better than its previous version, however, the slight edge that this movie gets from the one in 1987 are the performances and the very powerful CGI of the fighting scenes.Â
To this movie about a half human and half robot which delivers us a half powerful and half downing experience, I give RoboCop 3 out of 5 popcorn tubs.
