Plot
There was a single father named Ray Winter. His son Franky was not friendly with him despite his attempts. Franky and Ballas Kohl were best friends in high school. Ballas tells him he should have sex with his girlfriend, Priscilla, on his upcoming birthday. Ballas brags about how he had sex with his girlfriend Jess many times. During Franky’s birthday party, due to the effect of alcohol, both best friends had sexual tension and got close to each other. Ballas was afraid that he would be outcasted for his actions in school. He and his girlfriend tell rumors about how Franky wants to have sex with him, and he forces himself on Ballas. This leads to the bullying of Franky for being gay. He also had a breakup with his girlfriend. What will happen to Franky? Will he be able to regain his friendship? Will Ballas realize his mistakes? The rest of the story deals with it.
Star Performance
Josh Wiggins, as Franky Winter, did an incredible performance in the film. He is portrayed well as a typical teenager. He was perfect for his role. His acting after how people bullied him was impressive. The audience can relate to him. Darren Mann, as Ballas Kohl, was perfect. He describes how most teenagers are. They care what social status in school days. His journey to understand himself was impressive. Kyle MacLachlan did a fantastic performance in the movie. He shows the nature of a gay parent. He had his struggles and hardships. He portrayed well how he would be there for his son. Taylor Hickson, as Natasha Kohl, and Niamh Wilson, as Mouse, did performed remarkable in the film. They were right there for Franky in his bad times. Taylor Hickson and Josh Wiggins were a perfect pair of high school couples. All the other actors were as good as the main lead actors.
Analysis
The storyline of the film was great, entertaining, and funny —the film focus on the coming of age of teenage boys. The film shows how teenage kids find it hard to accept their sexuality. It also describes how for social status, teenagers will do anything. The friendship between adolescent boys was well portrayed. The actors were perfect, but the script was missing. The comedic and dramatic elements of the film are maintained from the start till the end. The background music and songs play a significant role in the movie. The dialogues were excellent. The editing was well done. The storyline had a great message and theme in the film. It shows the reality that LGBTQ+ community teenagers have to face.
