He tries to find the truth during the months before the presidential election 2016, where the two candidates competing are Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. Stern looks for answers to questions such as; What is it that trump supporters see in Donald Trump that makes6 them think that he is a worthy candidate? What about Clinton, and what qualities do Trump supporters believe she lacks? Stern travels around the United States to places like Florida, West Virginia, Arizona and so on, on a mission to find the answers to all of his questions by interviewing Trump supporters nationwide.
Star Performance
James D. Stern does well when he takes the role of the objective and open-minded interviewer.
Analysis
Stern acts as the impartial and neutral interviewer and does an excellent job. But sometimes we can also see that he is coming from a profoundly partisan place. However, the overall impression of Stern is still good as he is a deep listener, and a cheerful, understanding and friendly interviewer. A lot of his interviewees’ opinions are taken too lightly, and because of the overly open-minded interviewer role that he has taken, he fails to expose their prejudices.
