Many people are oblivious that the current wages for an employee affiliated with the Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) is Rs 400/ - and this has been raised to Rs 1000/ - daily. The increase caused dispute to many producers especially to the small film producers. The FEFSI office discussed the issue to the Tamil Film Producers, however no settlement has been made, so they announced a strike from July 27 to protest against the sudden increase in wages.
Since all the Film Producers were also Council Members, there will be no filming until the strike ends.
