, the President of the Producers’ Council and the General Secretary of Nadigar Sangam has announced a shutdown of the theaters, shootings and other cinema related operations from 30th May 2017. He requested the government to favor the cinema industry by uprooting the piracies. He had also discussed the GST with the government. If the demands are not met, the Producers’ Council and Nadigar Sangam have decided to shut down the operations including the film screening. But, the Tamilnadu Film Distributors Federation announced that they would not participate in the shutdown and the cinema halls will work as usual. All the Theater Owners Associations from all the major districts have announced that they will be operating on 30th May, as usual and the shutdown is fake news.
