. It is said that the film is inspired by Sunanda Pushkar’s mysterious death.
It will be remembered that Ramesh is also the director of Kuppi, which was based on Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination, and Vana Yuddham based on the forest brigand Veerappan. These both are based on sensitive real-life issues. So it is natural for people to think that Oru Melliya Kodu is also based on a real-life incident. But the director is reluctant to reveal whether this is really Sunanda’s story. He says that OMK is the story of a high society lady who dies under mysterious circumstances. The police suspect that her husband is involved in her murder.
But the director clarifies that the film will be non-controversial and will not hurt anyone’s sentiment. Actor Shaam of Iyarkai fame is acting with Manisha Koirala for the first time. He finds her simple and down to earth in spite of her having worked with the big stars in the South. She retained her high energy level that was infectious. Shaam says that we will get to see the same Manisha of Bombay and Mudhalvan in OMK and is all praise for her commitment.
