In a concerning news for Malayalam cinema fans, no Malayalam film shall arrive after 22 February. The theatres are on an indefinite strike.
This announcement came from the Federation of Exhibitors of Kerala. They are angry with the distribution of films in the Malayalam film sector, and they have reservations about the producers’ agreement with OTT players. As per the organization, the exhibitors will be at a loss due to early OTT releases.
So, until these issues are resolved the Federation has maintained that no Malayalam film will arrive after 22 February. That means no fresh releases will hit the cinema screens.

Following the unfair treatment, Hombale Films [which distributed ‘SALAAR’] threatened to withdraw their release in North Indian halls. Fortunately, following some discussions, the makers were allowed their due, and the film earned millions throughout India.
