The Indian Idol participant who got eliminated at a very early stage has groomed herself to a level that she is now the winner of the National Award for the Best Singer. The song that got her the award is Anu Malik’s Moh Moh Ke Dhaage from the film Dum Laga Ke Haisha, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Padnekar. She had won the Filmfare award for Amit Trivedi’s Sawaar Loon from Lootera that featured Ranveer Singh anSonakshi Sinha. The singer says that there is no alternative to hard work. She feels that one needs to groom their art just the way they groom themselves in order to keep getting work. It can be any form of art, but one needs to keep learning, working and keep getting better. She thanks Pandit Jagdish Prasad, who has taught her the the form of art and kept on motivating her to keep getting better. She feels that the unconditional love and support that she received from her family has played a major role to make her work harder. She feels that being a classical singer, she has sung a variety of songs in Bollywood and as a singer that is the proof of one’s versatility. Classical music creates a base and betters ones musical sense which enhances the adaptability of the singer. As of films, she thanks her director Nagesh Kukunoor for “Lakshmi”, which she feels is a very important film in today’s world. Very well aware of Human Traffic the people never really empathize with the victims. After being a part of the film, her outlook changed as a person and made her feel blessed for the very ‘normal’ life that she has. The other film “Mango” has completed the shoot and awaits release.
