Sarwat Atiq is also known as Sarwat Ateeq. She is a Pakistani actress. She was born on May 22, 1949. Sarwat Atiq’s place of birth is Lahore, Pakistan. After finishing her school studies, she went to the Punjab University to pursue a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Journalism. She married Ateeq Ullah Sheikh, who was a program producer in radio. She has two children. Sarwat Atiq is also passionate about singing, although she never learned music from anybody. She used to sing songs in school ceremonies, and she also performed school stage dramas. In 1965, Sarwat Atiq auditioned for Radio Pakistan, and she cleared the audition. She took participation in children's programs, and she worked as a child artist. After some time, Sarwat Atiq got interested in acting. She then visited PTV for an audition and immediately got selected by the judges. She did radio, and she also appeared on several stage plays.
She took basic training from radio. As Sarwat Atiq was working in dramas & stage plays, she couldn’t work on radio, so she decided to quit radio. Sarwat Atiq began her career on PTV from Lahore Center. She appeared in dramas, including as Geeti in "Dastak Na Do” (1971), as Sanam in “Sitamgar Tere Liye” (1972), and as Begum in “Ya Naseeeb Clinic” (1973). In 1976, she played the character of Ms. Rizwan in the Pakistani children’s television show “Kaliyan,” aired on PTV. Sarwat Atiq portrayed the significant role of Nighat in director Fazal Kamal’s comedy television show “Sach Jhoot” in 1978. Since then, she has appeared in many more dramas. In 1981, Sarwat Atiq essayed the role of Margaret in the Pakistani television long play "Kaanch Ka Pul,” written by Younus Javed and produced & directed by Mohammad Nisar Hussain.
The same year, she appeared as Zan’s mother in the drama "Darwaza,” aired on PTV. In 1983, she acted in the Pakistani television long play “Dour-e-Junoon,” written by Anwar Maqsood and produced & directed by Mohammad Nisar Hussain. In the play, she played the role of Rihana. She also appeared as Jeeran in a Pakistani television serial, "Samundar,” presented by the PTV network. The following year, Sarwat Atiq engaged in the drama "Dukhan Ki Chadar" on PTV directed by Yawar Hayat.
She also appeared in several dramas that year, such as “Status” (as Sajida), “Tota Kahani No: 09” (Razia), “Mirza & Sons” (as Hameeda Begum), “ Aankh Macholi Story soon >> Read More... ” (as Naseem), “Andhera Ujala” (as Muneer Begum), and “Mata-e-Gharoor” (as Nago). In 1983, she won the Best Actress Award at the PTV Award for her performance in "Samundar.” In 1986, she was nominated as Best Actress at the 6th PTV Awards for her performance in “Raat Gaye." In 1998, she got a nomination in the PTV Award as Best Actress.
