Bahar Begum, also known as Kishwar Hafeez and Kishwar Begum, was born on 1 August 1942 in Lahore, Pakistan. She has been active as a Film Actress since 1956. She married Director and Actor Iqbal Yousuf and had a child with him. They divorced later. She studied at the Convent of Jesus and Mary Lahore, Pakistan. Her debut movie in the Pakistani Film Industry was Chann Mahi (1956), introduced by the Director Anwar Kamal Pasha. He was the one to give her the professional film world name Bahar Begam.
She later worked for Punjabi, Pashto, and Urdu Pakistani films and has 600-plus films to her credit. Her career centred on the Punjabi Film Industry of Pakistan, where she first played the heroine roles and later switched to emotionally steady mother roles. She was also popular in the loud rural women roles, especially in Chaudhrani roles in Punjabi movies. She has been honoured with Nigar Award 2002 in the Lifetime Achievement Category. She won the Special Millennium Award in Nigar Award 1999. She won the Nigar Award 1994 in the Best Supporting Actress Category for her work in Zameen Aasman (1994) and Nigar Award 1993 in the Best Supporting Actress Category for her performance in Zamana (1993).Â
She has also worked in TV Series like Paranda (1998) as Begum Zara on PTV, Akbari Asghari Akbari Asgari is a Pakistani comedy-drama TV seria >> Read More... (2011) as Amma on Hum TV, Bhabhi (2014) as Sarim's mother on ARY Digital, and Wafa Ka Mausam (2017) as Soni's mother on TV One. She is also known for her work in movies like Loha (1990), Kaalay Chor (1991), Choorian (1998) as Step Mother, Moti Dagar (1983) as Chohdrani Jindo, Shareeka (2012), Khamosh Raho (2011), Sooha Joda (2007) as Jinddan, Ishtehari Gujjar (2001) as Mai Daaro, Silsila (1987) as Jeevan, and Mehndi Waley Hath (2000).
