in the Sinhala drama movie released on 23 July 1976. Impressed by her acting, Lenin Moraes cast Kusum in his next film, Aadarei Man Aadarei, released on 19 November 1976. The film starred Vijaya Kumaratunga, Malini Fonseka, and Tony Ranasinghe. Kusum Perera appeared in Danny Mariyadasan's Honda Hitha in 1977 and took a break from the Sinhala film industry for about thirty years. She made a comeback in 2012 with a comedy film, Jeewithe Lassanai, directed by Sudesh Wasanth Peiris.
