Shilpa Navalkar

Shilpa Navalkar is an actress cum writer, predominantly working in the Marathi film and TV industry. She was born on April 27th to the Indian politician Pramod Navalkar and his wife, Vandana. She has a sister named Reshma. Shilpa is married to Hrishi Deshpande. Together, they have a daughter named Kuhu Deshpande. She opened an ad agency, Aadyot Ad Films, with her husband. She has been into acting since her childhood. While studying electronics engineering, she participated in plays in college and later became a professional theatre artist. In 1999, Shilpa made her acting debut in the film Kairee, directed by Amol Palekar Amol Palekar was born on 24th November, 1944 in Mu >> Read More... , and won the Debutant Award. She did an Indo-French film, Maya, in 2001. Shilpa bagged the lead role in the Marathi TV serial Bhagyavidhata.

She was offered to write dialogue for the show and wrote 300 episodes for the serial. It marked her debut as a TV actor and writer. Further, she pursued her passion for writing. Shilpa debuted as a theatre actor and playwright with the show Selfie in 2015. The play has done over 100 shows and emerged as a huge success. She debuted as a screenwriter with the Marathi film Goth(2017). She is the playwright for the Marathi suspense play Gumnam hai koi(2018) under Bhadrakali Productions. It received applause and appreciation from the critics and audience.

Besides writing, Shilpa acted in various Marathi daily soaps, 405 Anandvan(2002), Vahinisaheb(2006), Asava Sundar Swapnancha Bangla(2013), Duheri(2017), Ajooni Chandraat Aahe(2012), Laxmi Sadaiva Mangalam(2018), Anandi He Jag Saare(2019), Kusum(2021), Tharla tar mag(2022). She has done Marathi films, 'Made in China' directed by Santosh Kolhe(2009), We are On! Houn Jau Day(2013), Ganu(2018), Baipan Bhaari Deva directed by Kedar Shinde(2023). She acted in the web series Secrets of Gavaskar(2022). It released on VMAS Marathi. She also recorded an audio novel, Ratra Sawalya for Storytel which was released on 7th December 2019. Later, it was published by Storytel as a novel.
