Keshav Vaman Bhole, commonly known as Keshavrao Bhole, was born on May 23, 1896, in Amravati, Maharashtra. Keshavrao was a Marathi music composer, director, and critic. He was also very skillful in Theatre and Sports. He was raised without a father but still possessed the same musical artistry as his father, who played the sitar.

Bhole’s exposure to music and theatre was at an early age, which cultivated his deep interest in music, for which he left his medical career after shifting to Mumbai. His wife, Durga Kelkar, had already earned her name in the industry by doing plays, she went by the name Jyotsna Bhole after their marriage. In 1933, Jyotsna Bhole received recognition for her leading role in the play Andhalyachi Shala, produced by the Natyamanwantar group.

Keshavrao was one of the founders of this group. He composed two songs for this play that were later performed by his wife, Jyotsna Bhole. In the same year, Keshavrao joined the Prabhat Film Company as a Music Director and gained a reputation for his innovative, original music. His works were experimental and displayed a unique artistic style during this era.

After working with the Prabhat Film Company, he later became head of the music department of All India Radio in Mumbai. Towards the end of his career, he shifted his focus from music to films. Keshavrao then established a career as a critic and used a pen name- Eklavya.

As Eklayva, Keshavrao published articles criticizing classical singers with the utmost expertise. These articles were well-received and initially published in Vasundhara weekly, later collectively published in a book known as Aajche Prasiddha Gayak. This book has another updated version with the title Sangeetache Maankari.  

He later used his expertise as a critic and switched his criticism from music criticism to films. For film criticism, he used another pseudonym, Shuddha Sarang. Under this pen name, he published articles on films and some autobiographical volumes that portrayed his outlook, such as Awajachi Duniya, Vasantkakachi Patre, Antara, Astai, Je Athavate Te, etc. In  1967, Keshavrao Bhole passed away at 89, in Pune.
