A renowned Marathi poet from Maharashtra, India, Ilahi Jamadar was born on March 1, 1904. In his ghazals, he was renowned for fusing Marathi and Urdu verses. Jamadar comes from a Muslim family in the former Sangli State's Miraj taluka's Dudhgaon hamlet, located on the Warana river's banks. He worked full-time at the Maharashtra Water Resources Regulatory Authority until retiring to devote more time to poetry. After the untimely passing of his wife and son, Jamadar lived by himself in a modest home in Pune's Yerawada district. Hridaynath Mangeshkar, a renowned music director, had him as a favorite composer. Late in Jamadar's life, Mangeshkar assisted in paying for his medical expenses. In July 2020, Jamadar was hospitalized at the Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital in Pune after suffering a fall injury and brain impairment.

He had dementia. At 74, he passed away from a protracted illness on January 31, 2021. In Sangli's Dudhagaon, he was laid to rest. Jamadar started penning poems when he was just 18 years old. He quickly accepted Suresh Bhat's invitation to study under him. He frequently combined alternating Marathi and Urdu lines in his ghazals. He has a history with All India Radio, where he has presented work on various shows such as Marathi Sugam Sangeet and YuvaWani. Additionally, he demonstrated his work for Doordarshan at Arohi. He sponsored workshops for aspiring poets called the Ilahi Ghazal Clinic. Jakeman Asha Sugandhi and Mahfil-e-Ilahi were two of the ghazal mehfils that Jamadar conducted throughout Maharashtra and even in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Known Ghazal singer Bhimrao Panchale frequently performed his pieces.

Jamadar released hundreds of ghazals in addition to 25 poetry collections, many of which have appeared over the years in renowned Marathi, Hindi, and Urdu newspapers and publications. Additionally, his art has appeared in films and television series. His ghazal collections and novels in Marathi include Ek Jamkham Sugandhi Jamkhama. SwapnaTarkanche, Samara Dohe Ilahiche, Bhavananchi Wasdale, Asha Sugandhi, and ShabdaSurachi BhavYatra. He wrote both Hindi musicals and well-known film tunes. SwaptaSwar, Maya aur Saya, and Neer Kshir Vivek were among the Hindi musicals. A Marathi musical was called Swapna Miche.
