Samit Kakkad

Samit Kakkad is a Marathi director based in India. He was born on 11 October 1974 in Mumbai, India. Being keen enough to become a filmmaker, he learned about filmmaking by reading Cinema specific books and assisting his father with documentaries and ad films. He completed his schooling at Don Bosco High school in Mumbai and pursued his graduation from Khalsa College, Mumbai. Initially, he started his career as an editor of television shows. He turned director with his new production, the dance-based Aayna Ka Bayna. This film was selected to represent India at the 18th International Film Festival and was also chosen as the film of Toronto’s Reel World Film Festival’s closing ceremony.

The film was also the first Marathi movie dubbed in Hindi for the Sony Max channel.
