Navin Deshpande is an Indian film director, writer, and producer who has worked in the Marathi film industry. He was born in Pune, Maharashtra, India, and completed his education in Mumbai. Deshpande started his career in the entertainment industry as a writer for Marathi television shows. He then moved on to write and direct short films before making his feature film debut with the critically acclaimed Marathi film "Yellow" in 2014. The film, which dealt with the subject of children with special needs, won several awards and was screened at various international film festivals. In 2016, Deshpande directed his second feature film, "Poshter Girl," which was a commercial success and won the Best Film award at the Zee Talkies Comedy Awards.
He also produced and directed the Marathi web series "Sarvagun Sampanna" in 2019. Deshpande is known for his socially relevant films that deal with sensitive topics such as mental health, gender equality, and disability. He has won several awards for his work, including the Best Debut Director award at the Maharashtra State Film Awards for "Yellow."
