Indira Krishnan is an Indian television actress and model of South Indian origins. She was initially an air hostess - but even at that time, she had respected and adored the performing arts causing her to test the waters in entertainment. Although the southern belle has been well-known for playing maternal roles for a large part of her career even from a young age, she has never been averse to it - she has always loved being the central mother character in her dramas.

Indira has played roles in the movies Suna Panjuri (1995), Aaj Ka Raavan (2000), Tere Naam (2003), ‘Faisla’ (2005), Deadline: Sirf 24 Ghante (2006), Team: The Force (2009), Chatur Singh Two Star (2011) and ‘Janiva’ (a Marathi movie). Krishnaben Khakhrawal was enjoyed by the general public, even praised for its positive message in a speech by Narendra Damodardas Modi, then-Chief Minister of Gujarat. The series was centered around a strong, outspoken and humorous Gujarati widow trying to bring up her children without a father at the same time managing a khakhra-selling business from home. The character of Krishnaben was particularly lauded along with the positive moral of the show.

After the end of Krishnaben Khakhrawala, she didn’t find the roles offered to her appealing, which made her decide she needed to keep herself occupied. So, she began to follow a stringent regimen - going to the gym, walking, doing yoga and solely eating food made at home. All of this paid off because she lost almost 11 kilos in just a couple of months. She was then rewarded with the offer of a solid role and guaranteed entrance to Bollywood with Hindi film “Pistol”.
