Deepal Doshi

Deepal Doshi is an actor and director living in Mumbai, India. He graduated from Dell'Arte International School of Physical Theatre in California with a Master of Fine Arts in Physical Theatre. He's a Growtowski, which is a type of experimental theatre. In addition to the United States, he has taught theatre in India, Sweden, and Indonesia.

For many years, Doshi has been writing, directing, and performing his comedia-based plays. Deepal Doshi and his wife, Kathryn Tabone, astonished Gurgaon theatergoers with their production of 'A Tale of Two Treaties' (2015), in which they performed Commedia Dell'Arte, an Italian type of comedy that employs a variety of exquisite masks. Deepal, as the sole actor, brings ten masks to life in an astounding, funny, rib-tickling production, created by the pair who have been thoroughly schooled in Commedia.

It's a storyline about a man's greed for money and a woman's desire for vengeance endangering the love between their two children, all while eccentric servants add to the mayhem. There's also a sex-deprived wife and an outlandish Captain who make sure no stone is left unturned when it comes to wreaking havoc. In this outrageous physical comedy, bonds are destroyed, emotions are ripped apart, and chaos reigns supreme. Kathryn directed the play, which was performed for the first time in Gurgaon. The characters engaged with the audience throughout the play, unlike in a traditional play. Although the genre is not well-known in India, they received a very positive response from everywhere they performed. Deepal was Kathryn's senior at the Dell'Arte International School of Physical Theatre in California.
