Born on 23rd August 1949, Bansi Kaul was Indian theatre director. He had also founded a theatre group called Rang Vidushak in Bhopal. His interest towards arts and painting started at an early age. While in Kashmir, he was exposed to various amateur theatre groups. For his studies he moved to New Delhi and joined the National School of Drama. He graduated from the institute with a specialization in stagecraft. His theatre group, Rang Vidushak, performed in India and abroad in multiple languages, including Hindi, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Tamil, and Sinhalese. The Indian Government honored Mr. Basni Kaul with the Padma Shri in 2014 for his work in Indian Theatre.
