Almanya Narula

Almanya Narulais an actor, combatant, fight choreographer, and writer from Bangkok. She was born in Mumbai, India, and currently residing in Chicago, USA. To begin with her childhood background, when she was between 3-7, years oldshe participated in numerous Bollywood films/TV Shows such as “PyaarKeGeet” and “Say Na Something Anupum Uncle. “Later she moved to Bangkok, Thailand; she wanted to continue her acting, so she pursued it in the Thai Film industry. At a later age, Almanya studied the International Baccalaureate program for Theatre, which eventually led her to travel to Chicago to continue her studies at Columbia College Chicago.

In 2016 she has graduated B.A. in Business and entrepreneurship from Columbia College Chicago, and M. A in new arts journalism from School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She strives to be a practitioner who creates.Through collaborative efforts and her skill sets in leadership, inclusion, strategizing, and improvisation, she wants to produce entertainment that is innovative, unique, that goes beyond the conventional norm, and that makes everyone stop, listen, and think twice. She wants to create entertainment that makes a difference in the world.

Her one of the most exciting project was Mollywood a thriller/smasher feature where she worked as stunt coordinator and other projects are Captain Blood (2018) with First Folio Theatre, directed by Jan Blixt, and 'æscplega'. In 2019, she became the first woman to be nominated for ‘the SAIC student leadership award in Fight Choreography’. In May 2019, she was a nominee for the SAIC student leadership award; she received several scholarships such as the New artist society scholarship (2017), the SAIC incentive scholarship (2017), the Sarah Siddons scholarship (Aug 2015), And the Presidential scholarship (Aug 2012).

Almanya speaks three languages, i.e. English, Hindi, and Thai. Other than fight choreographer, she is also a photographer/graphic designer and a dancer.She also worked as a journalist at Coconuts Bangkok, Thailand. She has understudied multiple courses, such as Accounting, elements of 2D design, Executive Producing for Film and Television Practicum, Finance, Gay and Lesbian Studies, Managerial Economics Quantitative Reasoning, Strategic Planning, Talent Management.

She has worked with other theatre companies around town such as Steep, Babes With Blades,Strawdog, American Blues Theatre and Chicago Dramatis. She has great interest in playing with swords and coming up with exciting new fight ideas for various companies and is currently interning with R&D Choreography. Almanya is proud to be represented by the Thai industry.
