Avani Lekhara was born on November 8, 2001, in Jaipur, Rajasthan. She is an Indian shooter. Avani is a 22-year-old girl full of talent. She has won multiple gold and silver medals. She has faced many challenges in her life and has never given up on things. She has won the hearts of many people because of her courageous attitude and hard-working nature. Her parents her very supportive and always been there for her. She lost her legs in an accident in 2012, at age of 11, where she was paraplegia. Her father encouraged her to get into sports. She started her training in archery, but she found her true passion in shooting. She has been the first lady to win the Paralympics. She became the first Indian women athlete to win three Paralympic medals. She won two medals, which were India’s first at the Paris 2024 Paralympics and the second Indian after javelin thrower Devendra Jhajharia to win two gold medals at the Games.
Till date India has won many gold medals. She currently studied law at Rajasthan University, India. She has been appointed as Assistant Conservator of Forest by the Government of Rajasthan. She is India’s first woman to win a Paralympic gold medal. At the final event, she scored 249.6 points; she made the World record in the Paralympic. In 2021, Avani became the first Indian female Paralympian to win 2 medals in Paralympics history after claiming bronze in women's 50m air rifle standing event. In Paralympics at Paris, she won a gold in women's 10m air rifle standing SH1. She was trained by Chandra Shekhar, a master in shooting. In 2020 and 2024, Avani gained significant success and popularity as she won Paralympics final at Paris and at Tokyo. She won Gold and bronze. She has represented India in many other countries in the Riffle shooting. She has created a history, Avani being paraplegia, she never gave up and had big dreams which she truly completed.
