Mariyam Unoosha, popularly known as Unoosha, is a Maldivian singer and songwriter. She was born on October 6, 1985, in Malé, Maldives. Her parents are Shafeega and Mr. Naseer. Both of her parents were part of a band called Olympians that was famous in the 90s. She started singing at a young age and was the first woman to win first place in the Inter-School Music Competition three times in a row. After graduating from Aminiya School, Unoosha accepted an offer from a band called Amazon Jade. She was a part of the band for four years. Mariyam has recorded more than 100 songs in the studio. She also hosted two seasons of a kids' music show named Let's Sing With Kiddy.
Furthermore, she performed at the Reethi Rah resort for Mariah Carey's wedding renewal ceremony. She made her debut as a playback singer in Bollywood in 2012. Puja Bhatt was impressed by Unoosha's singing at 2012's South Asian Film Festival held in Goa. Unoosha was offered to sing a song in the thriller movie Jism 2 directed by Bhatt. The first Hindi song sung by Unoosha is Kahan Se Karen Shuru which is also a part of the Jism franchise.
