Karishma is the daughter of our founder, Jyotika Jhalani, and a writer and filmmaker. She is dressed in various gorgeous Janavi India cashmere shawls and stoles. Fire (1996), The Waiting Place (2018), and Pure are among the works of Karishma Jhalani (2012). She worked with Kiera Chaplin and Janavi India, a Jyotika Jahalani project, in October 2020. several images of the lovely and kind Karishma Jhalani. The award-winning director and writer Karishma Jhalani participated in an interactive discussion after the movie screening in The Common Room.
Karishma, a University of Pennsylvania alum, has worked on several movies in India and Los Angeles, including Deepa Mehta's Fire. Her movie "The Waiting Place," which was shown at The Common Room, has been nominated for the Women in Cinema award in the Women in Cinema category of the So Paulo Film Festival. Additionally, it has been officially chosen for the Lift-Off Global Network Tokyo, Great Lakes International Shorts Festival, and International Film Competition Festival. Two young children who, in their innocence, muster the bravery to flee onerous rules set by their village elders are the subject of the novel The Waiting Place. The kids learn about color, music, and friendship along the way.
