Born on 1st March 1916, Sheila Bhatia was an Indian poet, playwright, and theatre personality. Sheila Bhatia is the founder of Delhi Art Theatre. She received the Padma Shri from the Indian government in 1971. She also received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for theatre direction in 1982 and Kalidas Sanman in 1997. Sheila Bhatia was a graduate of Arts. After graduation, she started working as a Mathematics teacher. She also involved herself in the Indian Freedom Struggle. Sheila Bhatia later moved to Delhi and founded Delhi Art Theatre. She also worked with the National School of Drama and was the head of the acting department at NSD.
