Remo Fernandes

Remo Fernandes, whose full name is Luís Remo de Maria Bernardo Fernandes, is a singer of Indian nationality with naturalized Portuguese citizenship.. He became famous for singing Gian and English in a nation where people usually prefer to listen to Hindi songs.

He was born on May 8, 1953 to Luiza and Bernado Fernandes in Panjim, Goa, Portuguese India. His Catholic family was well-known in their vicinity. His cousin, who had returned from London, introduced him to rock music of Bill Haley & His Comets at the age of seven.

While in school, he became friends with Alexandre Rosario, Caetano Abreu, and Tony Godinho, and they formed a band called The Beat 4.

Remo was its lead guitarist. He wrote his first song for The Beat 4, which went on to win several competitions of the state. Later, Remo enrolled himself in an architecture college in Mumbai. However, he bunked classes a lot to practice guitar.

Remo started working for The Savages, too. The one thing that made him stand out from other rock artists was that he would try to blend in an Indian element with the rock. After passing out from the architecture college, he traveled the world extensively and performed in several shows.

He struggled a lot to convince record studios. Finally, in 1986, he released his first album named Pack That Smack and followed it up with Bombay City. Both were massive hits, and he became famous overnight. Some of his other works are Politicians don't know how to Rock'n'Roll, Cyber Viber, and others.

Most of his compositions highlight social issues. He performed at various international music festivals as well. Though he got offers to work in the Hindi film industry, Remo took up only some since he thought he would have to change his style of music.

In his illustrious career, he has sung many songs and entertained lakhs of people. Remo is the recipient of Padma Shri and Karmaveer Puraskaar. He had married Michele Delahaye, a French citizen, but they separated due to unknown reasons. The couple has two sons named Jonah and Noah. He is the member of AAP, a political party.
