Richa Ahuja was born and brought up in New Delhi. She is a prolific actress, who has been in the industry since 1992. Richa moved to Chennai, where she acted in many Hindi and English theater projects. Trained by Ebrahim Elkazi, who founded the National School of Drama in New Delhi, she was associated with him as well as his projects for the longest time. Ebrahim formed the Living Theatre Academy for Drama, and Richa worked in six productions of the academy. After featuring in his plays, she started getting offers from Hindi television series. In 1998, Richa featured in her mother’s directorial debut opposite Ajith Kumar Ajith Kumar is a prominent Tamil film actor, model >> Read More... . It was a romantic film, “Uyirudo Uyiraga” based on a real-life story of the 1990’s. Richa could only take up the role because one leading actress had problems fixing the date. Richa was disheartened that she was not the first choice for the role but one of her mother’s colleague, with who she had worked in one of the movies, motivated her to take up the project. Later the film got a lot of appraisals from the audience.
Richa was also involved with a French theater that did an adaptation of Girish Karnad’s “Hayavadana”. She later went on to become a part of the stage plays, moved to France, and learned the language. In total, she did more than 45 stage shows of the play. She later worked in a French film named “Le Mystere Parasuram.” The production worked on the project for two years.
