Konkona Sen Sharma is a Bollywood actress hailing from Kolkata, West Bengal. She was born on 3 December 1979 in a Bengali family. She completed her schooling at the Calcutta International School and later moved to Delhi for a bachelor’s degree in English literature from Delhi University’s most prestigious college- St. Stephen’s. Cinema has already been existent in her genetic roots. Her mother, Aparna Sen, is a noted actress and director in Bengali cinema. Moreover, she is the granddaughter of Chidananda Dasgupta, a film critic who also established the Calcutta Film Society. In 1983, the four-year-old Konkona was first seen on the big screen in a Bengali film titled ‘Indira’. Her official Tollywood debut was in 2000 in ‘Ek Je Aachhe Kanya,’ for which she was awarded at the Bengal Film Journalists' Association Awards (2002). After this, she worked with her mother in another Bengali film titled ‘Titli’ and was honored for her work at the Kalakaar Awards. Next, her mother, Aparna Sen, directed and cast her in the lead role for the film ‘Mr. And Mrs. Iyer.’ The film was made in pure English and won her a National Award in the Best Actress’ category. Apart from this, her major works have been in three films; the first being ‘Omkara’. She played a supporting role in the film and worked alongside Saif Ali Khan. This film brought her three awards-theFilmfare Award, the Zee Cine Award and the National Award.
